Social Networking

Our students are expert at social networking through the web. Most do it every day and most use a range of tools. You've most probably heard of Instant Messaging, Bebo, Facebook and YouTube and you know many young people use these to keep in touch with each other. What you may not know is that many similar tools are used in the workforce and wider community. Students are familiar with these tools and if we want to make the learning experience relevant for them we have to allow them to use such tools in their learning. Teachers don't have to be expert in them, but they have to have some understanding so that they can realise their potential in the learning relationship.
